Jaquie Nethercote has been appointed as GippSport’s Program Coordinator for East Gippsland. She will replace Matthew Ogilvie who has taken up a position with AFL Gippsland.
Jaquie has been working with the East Gippsland Shire Council as a Wellbeing Program Officer and an Inclusion Project Officer. She has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Disability) from RMIT Bundoora. Jaquie has a passion for sport and recreation and will enjoy working with community sporting clubs in the East Gippsland area.
Jaquie will commence in GippSport’s Bairnsdale office on Monday 7 April 2014.
REGIONAL SPORT VICTORIA
Regional Sport Victoria (RSV) is the peak body which provides advocacy and leadership for the nine Regional Sports Assemblies (RSA) across the state of Victoria. RSV is able to provide a service not replicated in any other state or territory across Australia. By supporting community sport and recreation in regional Victoria, sporting clubs have access to training, information, advice, skill development, linkages and advocacy support.
RSV works across 48 local government areas in in Victoria that covers a population of 1.5 million people. The RSV membership has 8 500 community based sport and recreation clubs with a geographic coverage of 90% of Victoria.
Currently the nine Regional Sports Assemblies across the state have responsibility for conducting the following programs:
- Healthy Sporting Environments Program (funded by VicHealth)
- Access for All Abilities Program (funded by State Government)
- Regional Sport and Recreation Program (funded by State Government)
- Good Sports Program ( funded by The Australian Drug Foundation)
RSV is currently making representations to the State Government and VicHealth to maintain these programs at a funding level which ensures positive outcomes for community sport.
