On Saturday 21st May, AFL Gippsland & the Gippsland League Interleague hosted the first ever All Abilities exhibition match as part of the Interleague competition.

The All Abilities netball sides from the Drouin & District Netball Association and the Leongatha & District Netball Association faced off against each other in a high quality match. Whilst some of the players are still developing their skills, you could not wipe the smiles off the faces from every player on the court.

The Drouin All Abilities program has been running for 12 years and this year the program has grown significantly to over 20 regular participants.  Conversly, the Leongatha program is only in its 2nd year but is still experiencing strong participation numbers with 10 regular participants.

The Gippsland Interleague match was a great opportunity for both Drouin and Leongatha to get together to show case All Abilities netball and also to show the importance of being an inclusive netball community. Both teams enjoyed the competitiveness of the game as well as the social aspect of getting together and sharing their love of netball.

Both teams will meet again in October at Werribee at the Netball Victoria State Titles. Last year the teams played in Bendigo at the State Titles with Leongatha taking the honours that day.
