Gippsland has moved to the top of the division three ladder after round three of the FIDA football competition. Gippsland piled on the goals against Sandown to come away with a great win playing at Warragul on Sunday.

In the first quarter Gippsland got off to a quick start with 3 goals to 1, including goals to Sam Horner, Dave Bowen and Steven Scholz.

The second quarter was really well battled with Gippsland gaining control of the game. This was mainly due to the hard work of the midfielders of Kelvin Walters, Sam Horner, Steven Scholz and Matt Cartwright all working well as a team and continuously driving the ball forward.

The premiership quarter was again a good one for the Gippsland side, withstanding Sandown’s pressure and locking the ball inside their forward fifty. Good quarters by Paddy Maurice, Andy Dunn and Jamie Brewington making it hard for Sandown to gain any momentum.

In the last quarter Gippsland kept the pressure on Sandown, finishing off with 4 quality quarters of football. A highlight was a great goal by Andy Dunn, kicking his first goal of the season late in the last quarter.

The final scores were:

Gippsland: 16.11.107
Sandown:  1.3.9
