There are seven clubs involved with the VicHealth Healthy Sporting Environments program in the Wellington local government area.  Sale United Football Club was the first to join in November 2012.  Since then the Maffra, Rosedale and Sale Football Netball Clubs have joined the program, as well as the Golden Beach Surf Life Saving Club, the Maffra Gymnastics Club and the Sale Tennis Club.

Each club has completed a number of assessments to see how they manage with regards to alcohol management, reducing tobacco use, UV protection, managing and preventing injuries, healthy eating and being more inclusive of everyone.

Sale United Football Club reviewed their canteen menu for their past season, and introduced salad rolls, toasted sandwiches and pure fruit juices.  The salad rolls were very popular selling out each week.

GippSport has facilitated subsidised training for clubs in food handling and first aid.  This has enabled clubs to have trained people in these areas and to meet requirements from local government or their sporting bodies.  Maffra Gymnastics Club was able to train eight people in first aid.  Injury prevention is a priority with the club and having more people trained in first aid is very valuable to the club.

Education of club members and policy development are important parts of the program, and clubs are being very diligent in working on these aspects at their clubs.
