The weekly program has provided 12 students the opportunity to try tennis. Paul, Inverloch Tennis Club’s head coach, has been full of high praise for the students.
“The skill development & progression that we’ve seen in each of the students over the past 8-9 weeks has been huge! Its been great fun, hopefully we’ve provided a platform for these kids to want to continue to play!”
GippSport’s Access for All Abilities Program Manager, Dan Poynton, whilst supporting the program has also been working with the club, Bass Coast Shire Council & Tennis Victoria. Through working with Council’s Community facilitator the club has been a successful recipient of a ‘Building Disability Inclusive Businesses & Community Organisations’ grant. The club will be looking to improve physical access around the club including; providing a clear path of travel and a threshold ramp to provide level transitions to the courts. Further to this the club will look to provide a designated accessible car park.
David Price, Tennis Victoria’s development officer visited the program a few weeks back. Due to the success of the program and the work of Paul & the club, he presented the club with a range of new equipment to support new inclusive programs.
