Jack Burgess-Pincini of Mirboo North Basketball Association and Jessica Drazzi from the Phillip Island Football and Netball Club have won the 2014 GippSport Most Disciplined Player Scholarship Awards.
Jessica was nominated by the Phillip Island FNC for her contribution on and off the field. According to the club’s Netball Operations Manager Kathy Jones, she is a great role model and mentor to younger players in the club. “Jessica involves herself in club life and shows great skill in supporting her peers. In addition to playing, she has umpired for a couple of years and helped out with other junior teams. She also plays netball for her school and her teachers have the highest regard for her great attitude towards assisting others,” said Kathy.
Jack was nominated by the Mirboo North Junior Basketball Association for his contribution on and off the field. According to Association President Robyn Harris, he is a great role model and mentor to younger players in the club. “Jack is a valuable member of our club because of the various contributions he makes,” said Robyn. “His commitment and dedication to the sport is unbelievable. He sets a great example on and off the court in the teams that he coaches and plays for.”
GippSport Executive Officer Barry Switzer presented both Jessica and Jack with a scholarship to the value of $400 each at their respective school assemblies. Both local clubs the Phillip Island Football and Netball Club and the Mirboo North Junior Basketball Association also received a cheque for $100 for providing the nominations.
“GippSport is very keen to promote young people like Jessica and Jack who not only participate in sport, but also make a contribution off the field of play. Their families, club and school are justifiably proud of them. It was great that both clubs found the time to nominate her,” said Barry.
GippSport, Victoria Police and McDonald’s Family Restaurants combine to make the Most Disciplined Player program possible for junior sporting clubs in Gippsland. Clubs are encouraged to join this free weekly program and are encouraged to provide nominations for this scholarship on an annual basis.
