Starting Wednesday 28 May, GippSport in partnership with SCOPE and Gippsland Leisure Centres will be facilitating five come and try events in Gippsland. These events are free and aimed at people with high support needs, with the sports of Balloon Football, modified cricket and boccia on offer.
It has been identified that there is a lack of sporting and recreational activities available for people with high support needs in the area, and it is anticipated that these come and try events will provide interest levels for ongoing participation opportunities. There is an overall aim to have a Gippsland League formed, where participants can participate in these three sports on a regular basis during the week.
All five come and try sessions will be held from 10:30am – 2:30pm and although aimed at people with high support needs, people of all abilities are encouraged to participate.
Sessions will be facilitated at five different locations across Gippsland on these dates:
- 28 May – Drouin
- 4 June – Morwell
- 11 June – Sale
- 18 June – Bairnsdale
- 25 June – Leongatha
All sessions will be run from 10:30am – 2:30pm. For more information or to register please contact either Dan or Brenton from GippSport, or contact Shirley on 0488 254 747 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
