Three local Gippsland clubs are investing in the health of their members with initiatives to increase water consumption and reduce sugary drinks during the 2016 season. Boisdale Briagolong and Lakes Entrance Football Netball clubs have made changes to their canteen already and Moe & District Netball Association are about to embark on a canteen assessment.

Both Boisdale Briagolong and Lakes Entrance rearranged fridge displays to make water more prominent and promoted the benefits of water through posters.  They also added a salad roll and water meal deal.

GippSport Program Coordinator Ryan Evans was really impressed with the clubs willingness to try different approaches to increase water consumption, “It really showed how committed to culture change these clubs are, trying different approaches.”

GippSport is looking to engage more clubs in such initiatives.  With summer clubs in planning mode it’s the perfect time to make contact.
