Leongatha local, Mitch Price is 26 and has been a keen netball participant for many years now with GippSport’s Access for All Abilities program. Mitch has been successfully nominated as a finalist in Netball Victoria’s Community Awards – Umpiring Excellence category.
In 2012 he represented Victoria in the Victorian Mixed All Abilities team, whilst at the same time was coaching his local all abilities program in Leongatha.
Mitch has been a keen umpire for many years now, achieving his National C Grade badge in 2008. Mitch can be found around the Leongatha netball courts every weekend umpiring for the LDNA, Alberton Football/Netball league, as well as the Gippsland League.
On his way to achieving his umpiring goals Mitchell said “umpiring can be challenging. You have to be on the ball and always concentrating.”
Mitchell first became involved in netball through his existing social networks.
His favourite thing about playing and umpiring is the opportunity it creates to meet new people and make new friends. Mitchell believes that “people with a disability should have a go at netball and try something new”.
Mitchell currently plays and umpires netball at Leongatha and District Netball Association. He recently represented Latrobe Valley during the Netball Victoria State Titles, which was a partnership with his Leongatha group & the Drouin Netball Association All Abilities program.
