 An exciting opportunity exists to join GippSport as our Project Officer -Gender Equity working across Gippsland in collaboration with our community partners. 

 This is a newly created position, made possible through the Victorian Government’s “Preventing Violence Through Sports” grants program. This 2-year role will work with the Senior Sports Consultant, to implement Sport and Recreation Victoria’s new Preventing Violence Through Sport guidelines across Gippsland through community training, education, audits, networks, as well as playing a lead role leading the Orange Round campaign. This will also involve building on the work of our Changing Gippsland’s Game suite of programs and networks. 

GippSport operates in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment which requires flexibility, adaptability, initiative as well as excellent organisation and problem-solving skills. 

The funding and program acknowledge the enormous capacity local sporting clubs have to influence positive behaviours and attitudes around gender equality, respectful relationships, and the prevention of gender-based violence. 

 Duties include: 

  • Support the Senior Sports Consultant to undertake organisational audits, reports, and training. 
  • Schedule, administer and participate in Project Steering Group Meetings 
  • Take a primary prevention approach in addressing the gendered drivers of violence against women in all project work 
  • Review the Orange Round Resources and program and update them to align with the Preventing Violence Through Sport Guidelines. 
  • Build the reach and increase the impact of the Orange Round campaign in line with our funded proposal
