Basketball Victoria is partnering with the Latrobe Valley Authority to develop a Strategic Plan for the sustainable presence and growth of an elite basketball pathway in Gippsland.
The Strategic Plan will consider the existing basketball structure and program’s that are delivered across Gippsland and consider a future organisational and governance structure for the sport. This will include; financial sustainability, community and stakeholder needs and opportunities and the critical success factors for on court success.
The project is being led by a Project Steering Group which includes representatives from the LVA, Basketball Victoria, Local Government, Sport and Recreation Victoria and local basketball associations. Among the key priorities of this group is to ensure the broader Gippsland community is consulted to gain a thorough understanding of the issues and opportunities.
Steering Group member and General Manager of Basketball Victoria Country, David Huxtable, called for community feedback to assist with the growth of the project. “We would love to see a broad response to the surveys being distributed to our basketball community,” Mr Huxtable said.
