Latrobe and South Gippsland Celebrate Play Well Success!

Empowering Women and Girls Through Sport

Women and girls in Latrobe City and South Gippsland are set to benefit from the Play Well Participation Grants, awarded by the Australian Sports Commission. These grants are part of a nationwide initiative to break down barriers and ensure everyone has a place in sport, regardless of their background or experience.

GippSport is proud to partner with Latrobe City Council and South Gippsland Shire Council to bring this vision to life. With a focus on traditionally male-dominated sports, this program aims to boost participation and create more inclusive, welcoming sports environments for women and girls.

About the Play Well Grant

The Play Well Participation Grant is designed to increase access to sports for underrepresented groups, particularly women and girls. This initiative is part of Australia’s first Sport Participation Strategy, which aims to transform sport participation in the lead-up to Brisbane 2032 and beyond.

At the heart of this strategy is a commitment to creating safe, welcoming, inclusive, and fun sporting experiences. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just getting started, Play Well ensures that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of sport.
