Connecting Carers

We are delighted to share that Gippsport has received a grant from Carers Victoria, supported by the Victorian Government, through the Connecting Carers in their Community Grant Program.

This grant will allow us to implement a community recreation program specifically for carers across Gippsland. GippSport will engage and work with the carer community to provide active recreation programs to facilitate improved social connectedness and enhance health and wellbeing. For this program, we will specifically be working with carers that are looking after a child with a disability.

We are currently working with local Neighbourhood Houses and carer groups to deliver regular sessions that are:

  • Relaxed, safe and welcoming
  • Varied to suit all ability and fitness levels
  • Focused around social connections

As this is a collaborative process, we would love to get feedback from carers on what you would like to have in your community please see the link below.

We have also included links to resources that may be beneficial.
