Community Grants Program – South Gippsland Shire

The South Gippsland Shire Council Community Grants Program provides funding to community, volunteer, and not-for-profit organisations to deliver projects, programs, and events that benefit the South Gippsland community.

Funding Streams & Categories

  • Minor Projects & Equipment: $1,000 – $5,000

  • Festivals & Events: $1,000 – $10,000

  • Major Projects & Equipment: $5,000 – $10,000

Council generally funds up to 50% of eligible project costs, with applicants providing the remainder. Major projects require prior discussion with the Grants Team.

Current Rounds (2026)

Round 2:

  • Applications Open: 1 January 2026

  • Applications Close: 31 March 2026

  • Council Decision: June Council Meeting

  • Notification: End of June

Round 1 (for reference):

  • Applications Open: 1 July

  • Applications Close: 31 August

Funding is paid once agreements are returned, and acquittals are required after project completion (usually within 12 months).
