Embrace Collective opportunity for Gippsland!

The Embrace collective is an organisation that aims to guide the evolution of the body image movement into the next decade by:

  • Inspiring and educating every person around the globe to reframe how they think about their bodies, while celebrating the uniqueness of each other and ourselves.
  • Putting the necessary supports in place to make this individual change possible through the settings and environments where we live, work, learn and play.

Moving our bodies is good for us, and sport is the foundation of our communities and our culture. But when young people worry about how they look, they can’t focus on playing the game. We’re here to change that, with simple strategies that can be implemented in every sports club around Australia to make these settings safe, supportive and inclusive for everyone. You can help us spread this important message so that young people can keep playing the sport they love for longer.

The problem:

Body image impacts physical and mental health, as well as sport participation and retention Engagement in physical activity offers a powerful opportunity to enhance the physical and mental health and wellbeing of young people, yet many drop out of sport because of the pressure they feel around appearance and performance. It is critical that sporting clubs, organisations and codes address these concerns and change the culture to reduce appearance pressures and promote inclusive, body-positive sport environments.

The solution:

Activate by Embrace Kids offers digital and physical resources to sports and recreation clubs across Australia, helping them create environments where everyone feels safe and welcome. This evidence-based initiative is designed to foster cultural change, keeping young people—especially girls and women—engaged in sports for longer. Through practical recommendations and actionable support tailored to all sports at the grassroots or community club level, we aim to create lasting, positive change.
