Gippsland’s ‘2023 Summer Orange Round’

Join us for Gippsland’s ‘2023 Summer Orange Round’, a stand against family violence and men’s violence against women and children and showcasing gender equality in sport.

Many sporting clubs are already doing a lot of great work in creating more inclusive spaces for women and girls and initiatives such as the Orange Round are an excellent means of highlighting some of this work and encouraging other clubs to consider how their environments could be more equitable for all participants.

As 2022 rounds to a close we are inviting all sports clubs across Gippsland to be a part of the 2023 Summer Orange Round campaign, which will take place between February 25 and March 25.

Challenging traditional gender roles within sporting clubs

Raising awareness of the importance of gender equality in the prevention of violence against women

Promoting club gender equity work and opportunities.

The concept of the Gippsland Orange Round arose from the United Nations International Orange Day; an initiative that aims to raise awareness about Violence against Women and Girls on the 25th day of any month, inspiring anyone in the world to organise an event/s to work towards reducing violence against women and girls.

Orange Round campaigns run across Gippsland twice a year: once in summer and once in winter. Cubs can also host Orange Rounds on the 25th day of any month.

The Orange Round concept is a partnership between Gippsland Centre Against Sexual Assault (GCASA), Gippsland Women’s Health (GWH), and GippSport, supported by 16 other organisations across Gippsland.

EOIs for Gippsland’s ‘2023 Summer Orange Round’ close on Sunday January 15.

Orange Round Resource and Information Kit

GippSport in partnership with GCASA has created an Orange Round Resource and Information Kit for Sporting Clubs.

Orange Round is a Gippsland wide initiative to encourage sports club to take a stand and help raise awareness about the incidence and impacts of sexual assault, family violence and violence against women and girls in our community. As well as, raise awareness about how we can create a community culture that promotes equality and respect.

Contact your GippSport Program Coordinator or message GippSport to discuss ways your club can be more inclusive and reach greater goals by including all members fairly in your club.
