The Victorian Government’s Sporting Club Grants Program has returned for 2026-27, providing vital funding to help community sport and active recreation organisations across the state build safe, sustainable, and inclusive local communities.

Round 1 of this highly anticipated program is currently open from Friday, 10 July 2026. Whether your club needs new on-field uniforms, wants to upskill its volunteer coaches, or is planning to host a new community sports event, this program offers a direct pathway to turn those plans into reality.

Program dates

Round 1

  • Applications open: Friday 10 July 2026
  • Applications close: 4 pm Wednesday 26 August 2026
  • Notification of outcomes: October 2026.

Round 2

  • Applications open: Thursday 18 February 2027
  • Applications close: 4 pm Thursday 1 April 2027
  • Notification of outcomes: June 2027.

What Funding is Available?

In 2026-27, funding is offered across five distinct categories tailored to meet the specific needs of community sports:

Category 1: On-field Uniforms or Equipment:

Up to $1,000 for playing uniforms, participation equipment, and first-aid gear.

Category 2: Volunteers and Officials:

Up to $5,000 to improve the skills, knowledge, and retention of volunteers, coaches, and officials.

Category 3: Access and Events:

Up to $5,000 to deliver a series of sport sessions for adult participants, or $2,500 to host a single-session event.

Category 4: Travel:

Up to $750 to help athletes with travel costs for representative competition or selection trials.

Category 5: Governance and Engagement:

Up to $1,500 to strengthen governance practices and ensure long-term club sustainability.
