Local Para Champions Grant – Supporting Athletes with a Disability

The Local Para Champions Grant, provided by the Australian Sports Commission, offers financial assistance for young athletes, coaches, and officials with a disability aged 12–24. The grant helps cover costs associated with competing at state, national, and international championships.

Funding Details

  • Base grant: $750
  • Travel (800–1,999km): +$100
  • International or 2,000km+: +$200
  • Rural electorate: +$50

  • Competition entry fees or levies
  • Transport (airfares, petrol)
  • Accommodation
  • Uniforms and sporting equipment

Eligibility

  • Aged 12–24 in the same year as the nominated championships
  • Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Competing in events/divisions for athletes with a disability
  • State championship applicants must live >125km from the venue
  • Maximum of two grants per year

This funding helps remove barriers to participation, enabling young athletes with a disability to fully engage in competitive sport, gain confidence, and develop their skills.
