Part/Full Time (0.8-1.0 EFT negotiable)

An exciting opportunity exists to join GippSport as part of our Community Programs team working from our Traralgon office.

This newly created position will contribute to the development, implementation, coordination and delivery of programs and projects with focused and targeted objectives using sport and recreation for social change in Gippsland sport, e.g. children, young people, multicultural communities, First Nations people and people with a disability.

Through collaborative working with our key partners in the sport, active recreation and community development sector across Gippsland we will test, trial and implement new approaches to increasing physical activity outcomes for the communities we’re working with. 

Working alongside the Manager: Community Programs & Partnerships, this opportunity is ideal for an individual with experience and is looking to develop in sport & recreation program delivery, project management, stakeholder engagement and with an overall passion for sport and active recreation.

Duties include:

  • Working collaboratively with stakeholders and the community to implement and evaluate relevant place-based sport and recreation programs and/ or projects.
    • Including identification of examples of best practice from other jurisdictions that we may test and trial.
  • Support the development and implementation of a range of community engagement processes to identify local themes driving participation and build capacity of the people within each program:
    • Our coaches and deliverers, enabling high quality programs
    • Our participants, enabling individual wellbeing outcomes
  • Actively participate in networks and relevant meetings to improve the reach, engagement and impact of our program suites and project outcomes.
  • Liaise with the education sector, partner community organisations and Local Government partners about programming opportunities and general enquiries.

Our work reaches people in local communities right across Gippsland through sporting clubs, health settings and schools, offering educational information, sport and recreation programs and advocating for strong and healthy communities.
