Sport Development Trainee
Part/Full Time (0.8 - 1.0 EFT negotiable)
We’re looking for a new Sport Development Trainee to join our team working across the Gippsland region in our Community Programs team. This newly created role would suit candidates looking to start a career in community sport. If you are keen to be supported in developing your program administration and coordination skills, with experience working across sport, recreation, and health-related community programs this may be your opportunity!

The role
Working across a number of GippSport’s program areas, here is a great opportunity to start your career in the sport sector with this entry level position. You must be an enthusiastic team player that is motivated to learn new skills and is flexible to work in a number of locations. You will be dedicated to self-improvement and display initiative in the workplace to settle into the role and become a valuable team member.
The successful candidate will be supported to learn the roles and responsibilities required to start a career in Sport Development. Key elements will be supporting the planning, promotion, and delivery of community sport and active recreation programs.
The traineeship is 30.6-38 hours per week, Monday-Friday negotiable. This may include activities and events outside of normal working hours such as weekends, as well as other commitments necessary to fulfil the duties of the position. There will be allocated time per week for study and all Training Fees will be paid by GippSport.

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to…
- Support the delivery of innovative and engaging sport & recreation programs in partnership with the community.
- Work across a variety of programs providing diversity of work and gain experience using different approaches to increase participation in sport & active recreation.
- Work with our community programs teams to generate ideas as GippSport diversifies our programmatic offerings.
- Establish and develop your knowledge of community sport and sport for development to assist GippSport achieve our purpose of a more active, healthy & inclusive Gippsland through sport and active recreation.
Your background should include…
- Can do/proactive attitude to work
- A strong desire to work in the community sport sector
- Proficiency using Microsoft office suite and a variety of social media platforms
- Exposure to other online softwares e.g. Canva – experience preferred but not required
- Reliable, with the ability to take and follow instructions
