Local sporting clubs and active recreation organisations across Gippsland are encouraged to apply for funding through the Victorian Government’s Sporting Club Grants Program, with applications now open until 4 pm, Tuesday 7 April 2026. Grants are available from $750 to $5,000, depending on the category.

The program is designed to help grassroots clubs reduce barriers to participation, strengthen club operations, build inclusive environments, support volunteers, and create more opportunities for people to get involved in sport and active recreation.
Funding categories
Funding is available across five categories:
Category 1: On-field Uniforms or Equipment
Up to $1,000 to help clubs purchase key items that support safe and inclusive participation, including playing uniforms, participation equipment, and safety or first-aid items.
Category 2: Volunteers and Officials
Up to $5,000 for projects that build the skills, confidence and effectiveness of volunteers, coaches and officials, including training and volunteer retention initiatives.
Category 3: Access and Events
Up to $5,000 to deliver a series of sport sessions for adult participants, or up to $2,500 to host a single-session event for children and young people. This category is designed to create more opportunities for people to take part in sport and active recreation.
Category 4: Travel
Up to $750 to help with travel costs for athletes selected for representative competition, selection trials or training camps. This can include travel, accommodation and event registration fees.
Category 5: Governance and Engagement
Up to $1,500 to support stronger governance practices and help clubs build long-term sustainability and stronger community engagement.
Who can apply?
Eligible organisations must be not-for-profit, non-government, operating in Victoria, and be a legal entity with an ACN, IAN or ICN. Applications are accepted from community-based organisations currently delivering sport, active recreation or physical activity.
