As we gear up for the 2025 football and netball season, GippSport is once again partnering with the Tackle Your Feelings (TYF) program to bring free mental health training to community clubs across Gippsland.
Footy and netball clubs are more than just sport—they’re where mateship, community, and connection thrive.
TYF helps clubs create positive, mentally healthy environments by giving coaches, committee members and support staff practical tools to recognise and respond to signs of mental ill-health. It’s backed by mental health experts and supported by some of the biggest names in AFL and AFLW.
So, what does the program involve?
Each club takes part in a 90-minute face-to-face workshop delivered by a local psychologist, supported by easy-to-access online learning. You’ll also hear from high-profile ambassadors like Daniel Gorringe, Brit Bonnici, Nathan Buckley, Ellie Blackburn, Steven May and Dylan Buckley, who share their own mental health journeys in sport.
TYF began as a national response to the tragic loss of Adelaide coach Phil Walsh, and since then, it’s helped thousands of community clubs across Australia put mental wellbeing on the agenda.
Coaches who complete the training will not only gain access to ongoing learning resources like blogs, podcasts, and videos but also have the chance to win great prizes through the Tackle Your Feelings Rewards Program.
Why get involved?
- There is no cost to community clubs
- Sessions are run locally across Gippsland throughout 2025
