Volunteer Week Morning Tea: Celebrating Dedication and Compassion!

Thanks to the Victorian government’s Together More Active program, Gippsland sporting clubs can take advantage of this workshop without cost.

National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering and will be next held on 20-26 May 2024. This special week provides an opportunity to highlight the important role of volunteers in our community and invites people not currently volunteering to give it a go. The 2024 theme for Volunteer week is ‘Something for Everyone’, which will aim to recognise the diverse passions and talents everyone brings to the act of volunteering.

This year, GippSport has combined a Cancer Council Biggest Morning Tea event with a Volunteer workshop, speaking perfectly to the ‘Something for Everyone’ theme.

The morning will kick off at 8am with a tasty coffee or drink of choice, into a collaborative Volunteer workshop that will focus heavily on encouraging and recognising volunteers. We will be leaning into your experiences both good and bad, practical strategies for improvement and some ways to track volunteer coordination.

After this workshop we will enjoy our morning tea, with some fundraising efforts. If you haven’t heard of it, Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is a Cancer council fundraising community event that raises vital funds to make a big difference for those impacted by cancer. Almost 1 in 2 Australians are diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85 and we would to help in anyway we can.

Moreover, this event isn’t just about recognition and learning – it’s also about making a tangible difference in a cause close to everyone’s hearts. We’ll be raising money for the Cancer Council, supporting their vital work in cancer research, prevention, and support services.

Come along, show your appreciation, and contribute to a meaningful cause while enjoying a morning filled with gratitude, inspiration, and community spirit. Together, let’s celebrate, learn, and make a positive impact!
